This article comes in a very tense time for gender and race relations, with our current president among other things, so it is a very hot topic to write about. This article was really written for the general public, I really don't think it was written only for people who watch tennis, because it has a much larger scope to it. The author phrased the title as an opinion, and while it has a lot of facts I think that the facts are mostly geared to provide evidence that there was sexism involved in Serena's case. I think the purpose of this article is to provide facts about the incident then to provide evidence for the author's point of view. This article is important because it shows a case where sexism is alive today. My opinion of this event is that the judge may have called out Serena due to sexism, but she still was breaking the rules and was openly rude to the judge so the penalties are valid, especially considering that her opponent was a woman so if she broke the rules the judge would have called her out for it also.

I agree that there is sexim in sports and other areas today and women are criticized much more for things that men do not get the same treatment. This article gives this example in the tennis world to help support this argument.
