With football season coming up this week, former NFL player Colin Kaepernick has struck a deal with nike for, along with 30th anniversary merchandise, his own personal nike merchandise. Earlier today, he posted an image of himself from the campaign with the quote, “believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.” As a former player who was kept off the field due to his activism and on-field protesting, this strikes some conflict with the NFL, which also has a deal with Nike. Evidently, this deal for Colin as the face of the campaign will surely aid in spreading motivation for change. Just like in the past few years of american football where players have refused to stand up for the national anthem in protest, this deal doesn’t only spread Colin’s message to football players or athletes, but throughout the media to the average american.

Do you think Kaepernick's quote is referring to him taking a knee during the national anthem in 2016? If so, do you think that Nike wanted this to be connoted despite their current partnership with the NFL?
