“Censoring Blackish was a craven move to satisfy Trumps Base”

Black- ish creator, Kenya Barris, announced that he will be taking the show off of ABC and onto Netflix. ABC was trying to censor political staments that were supposed to be on the show. Because of our present political climate the network thought it would be best to not make political stamements  about such things as, footballers protesting , the Charlottesville incident, and Trump. Kenya felt like his would not be fully heard if he stays with ABC. At Netflix however, he full creative liberty in his work and will not be told what to and not to include.
I think Kenya Barris is making the right move. Netflix is in the cutting edge of artistic liberty and giving all types of shows and movies for their audience to watch. A creator should never be told what to do with their own show! This reminded me of how the NFL told Colin Kaepernick to stop kneeling, he didn’t let his voice be shut down.

  3. I am glad that the creator is not letting ABC shut them down and instead moving on to a more supportive choice. Using your platform to make political statements is important because some people may only watch TV shows and it may be the only way that they will get information about the events happening today and it also helps other people with large platforms to do the same.

  5. I think it's good Black-ish is moving to a streaming network that allows for the freedom of political commentary on very recent and controversial topics. Black-ish is a show that runs on current events and political commentary through the perspective of the average modern African-American family, and they need a network where they're allowed to run free and put out their best.

  6. She made did make the best decision for the viewers and her cast. I love the show and the points that discussed are always relateable and she shouldn't have to restrict her artistic vision because of unaccepting people.
