Summary: president Obama recently visited Cuba in hopes of reuniting Cuba and America. Despite the two very different forms of government and views on human rights among other issues there was common ground on the issue of the embargo, which both parties want lifted. Castro, when being asked about his prisoners became defensive, although before he had given a kid of things he though Obama should do better on. Despite those who did not support Obama's trip to Cuba, he believes tha right now we are moving back wards and not forwards. We have to move foward while upholding the things we as Americans believe in.
Analysis: Like others who have written about this event, I find it interesting to see the interaction between these two after the deep history our nations have. This relates back to history when the Cuban middle crisis were going on. This relates because the distrust and conflict between our nations began at this point and continued through the Cold War and even now. It will be fascinating to see how future exchanges play out, and to see what the future holds.

  1. I find this very interesting. It's often hard to distinguish Cuba of the past from the present, especially since we so recently researched it.

  2. I agree. Events from the Cold War, like the Cuban Missile Crisis have created tension between our two countries. We thought it was gone, but there is always tension that lingers.
