TSA Breakdown or Hyper Alert? - Sophia Davison
Recent reports done by Aviation and Government Regulators and The Department of Homeland Security show possible faults with TSA regulated equipment used for screening and security measures on over 1.8 million airline passengers and their estimated 1.2 million checked bags every day. These problems make airline security questionable and raise doubt on the actual security of flying nationwide. Renovations and updates to U.S. security systems have been in place since this past September, yet were expected to be finished by now. Unfortunately, these updates have failed to be completed as of yet, and have actually spurred more issues with the quality of everyday screening. Especially with the growing prominence and awareness of ISIS along with other controversial groups these days, the importance and maintenance of security systems such as TSA screens is heightened especially. The newly established completion date of updates is by the end of 2015. Times such as these call for special care to such security systems that are so widely relied upon throughout the U.S., and we can only hope that proper security will be restored/updated to its highest quality and capacity soon.
