The people in
Pakistan are grieving now over the assassination of Sabeen Mahmud, a
well known woman's rights activist. The police are refusing to
speculate a motive for her murder. Sabeen and her mother were shot at
while in their care by two men on a motorcycle. Some people are
hinting that the government was involved, and the prime minister of
Pakistan has ordered an investigation into the assassination.
Women's rights has been a fight that has been going on for a long time. While women's rights activists made huge leaps with the 19th amendment, even today in our 21st Century world there is still a great distance to go for sexual equality.

This is an example of despite all of the triumphs women have had there is still a long way to go. I hope that the two men responsible are brought to justice, and that Sabeen's death will lead to a change in equality.
ReplyDeleteExactly right…. Although significant progress has been made in gaining equality for women, just as has been done for issues of racism, there is much progress yet to be made.. The fight for complete equality is still going strong!
