Death and Injury After Aircraft Landing in Hawaii By: Nina Bharadwaj, 2nd

After an Osprey aircraft landed harshly in Hawaii and caused a major fire, 21 injuries and one death (a Marine) occurred. No large details have been revealed about the stature of the hospitalized marines, but at the time of the "hard-landing mishap" they had been undergoing routine training. Witness Kimberly Hynd was hiking the Lanikai Pillbox Trail at the time of the crash. From her distance of 2 or 3 miles away, she could see three Osprey aircrafts creating swirls of dirt, and then gradually she noticed fire and smoke. However, she didn't hear a crash. Another witness, Donald Gahit, claimed to have seen smoke from outside of his window
Although the cause of the crash is entirely unknown, it can be agreed that some adjustments need to be made in order to prevent other crashes from happening. Hopefully, after a thorough investigation, a cause can be determined. The wreckage from the aircraft covers a span of 50-60 feet, so it has affected its surrounding environment. Although the attacks on 9/11 were clearly much more destructive than this aircraft crash, both changed the land around it. However, the 9/11 terrorist attacks destroyed the North and South towers (WTC) and other buildings in the World Trade Center Complex and the western side of the Pentagon. This recent crash took place with an aircraft at Bellows Air Force Station. I'm hoping that those injured in the crash have a fast recovery.

  1. I hope that they do find the cause of this. I do see the connection that you made between this and 9/11 and it does make sense.
