The Boston bomber was sentenced to death today. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was sentenced to death by execution after an emotionally taxing court case, reportedly sentenced with the crying of the jurors. Tsarnaev could have either been sentenced to life in jail with no parole or sentenced to death. The case for Tsarnaev living is that his brother was the mastermind behind the attacks and that he was simply following the charismatic approach that his brother took. In a tweet from a Boston marathon victim and survivor, she says "Justice. In his own words, 'an eye for an eye'."
This is a very fascinating piece of news because it shows that, although the acts Tsarnaev committed were atrocious acts of terror, this article displays a very human aspect to the case. We see that the jury had a difficult time issuing the death sentence to someone so young. This can be said to be caused by a growing presence of islamaphobia in the US and shows the division between members of the Islam religion both in the US and abroad.
