Boston bomber receives death penalty - Madison Escano

On Friday, jurors sentenced Dzhokhar Tsarnaev with the death penalty, making it the first time federal prosecutors have won the death penalty post-9/11. Bill and Denise Richard, parents of Martin Richard, victim of the bombing, were present as the verdict was delivered. They were against the death penalty. While Tsarnaev will mostly likely be sent to Terry Haute in Indiana, he has received a set of new defense attorneys that specialize in appeals.

I personally don't agree with the death penalty. While Tsarnaev's crime was horrendous, putting him to death will not bring back the dead or undo any damage that has already been done. Furthermore, this verdict will likely cause more tragedy for the families involved as they have to sit through years of appeals from Tsarnaev's team.

  1. I think that they should have just let him sit and rot in jail for the awful things he has done. There is more suffering involved in that than killing someone.

  2. The death penalty is murder, furthermore two wrongs do not make a right especially in this case.
