NYC Sanitation Worker Loses Job Over Tip - Zien Lin (P4)

Summary: Lenworth Dixon, a 56 year old sanitation worker in New York City who's been on the job for 24 years was fined $1,500 and fired from his job for accepting a $20 tip because accepting gratuities are prohibited and punishable under the New York City Department of Sanitation's rule-book.

Response: I was almost feeling bad for him until I saw it was clearly stated in the law so that's his own fault for breaking it. He knew the risk and consequences. I can't believe someone actually reported him though.

  1. Yes it is his own fault for taking the tip, but if the person who gave it to him thought he was deserving of it, why not? Its sad that he was punished for being rewarded and being good at his job. Sick kind of world we live in.
