This
article profiles Kimberly Fugate’s recent additions to her family. Fugate and
her husband, Craig, of Mississippi had been expecting identical triplets, but
during the cesarean section birth, doctors found a fourth daughter, whom had
been hidden behind her sisters for the entirety of the 28-week pregnancy. The
four girls are a little over 2 pounds each and are in the intensive care unit
currently. Fugate hopes to bring the girls home to join their ten-year-old
sister Katelyn by May 2, the original due date, but it all depends on how
quickly the girls are growing and developing.
I
chose to read this article because I have eleven-year-old triplet siblings.
However, they’re not identical. I am so glad all of the girls and the mother
are doing well. I thought it was incredible that Fugate had identical
quadruplets! It is extremely rare for something like this to happen, so I was
very surprised. In the article, it said that experts estimate that there are
only about 50 to 60 sets of identical quadruplets in the world. I hope the
Fugate girls will soon get to join their older sister at home.
It's one thing to have 4 children. It's another thing to raise 4 children. It's a completely different thing to do it all at one time.
