Mollie Hamman - First Period - Toronto underground electrical fires

Earlier today in Toronto, there were sudden explosions coming from the ground creating dark, smoke clouds, and the media quickly posted about it. In an underground vault used to store electrical transformers a fire started that created the explosions. It did not hurt the subway service. Because the smoke is bad to be around and breathe in, some streets nearby the incident were closed off, and buildings had to be evacuated. After a few minutes, you could still hear popping noises coming from the fire. It was said to have been probably caused by damp weather.

I think that they handled the situation well, however they should check other places and make sure that explosions like this will not happen again just because of damp weather.

  1. It's important that we pay attention to the weather that effects the world around us and vice-versa.

  2. That's very scary, but I'm glad they extinguished the fire eventually. There have been underground fires that have gone on for years.
