This afternoon, a student was stabbed to death with a hunting knife. Three other students were very critically injured, leaving them in ICU at the hospital in Austin, Texas. This brutal murder took place at the University of Texas at Austin. Police identified the stabbing suspect as a 21 year old named Kendrix J. White. White graduated high school in 2014, approximately making him a junior in college. Rachel Pritchett described her initially peaceful lunch at the food trucks, when she heard a fatal scream. "I saw a guy standing there, just walking calmly, but he was holding a machete type knife." Rachel claims to have seen the suspect grab his victim by the shoulder and slap the knife in his back. As she began running away, she saw another person slouched on a table, having blood on him. The stabbing took place near gregory gym, on campus. Later found out, White is a biology major, and a major volunteer on campus projects.
This is similar to the Columbine shooting in 1999. During this shooting, 15 people died, including the two shooters. If students had access to guns almost twenty years ago, who knows what all they have access to now. Campus security needs to be abundantly stricter in order to prevent such fatalities.
It's unfortunate that students are not safe in environments where they should be.
ReplyDeleteI understand your point about campus security and wholeheartedly agree, however, is it possible to ever prevent this sort of thing? People will always be able to find a way to create damage and destruction, especially somebody with mental issues, as this murderer clearly displayed.
ReplyDeleteThis person definitely has mental issues, it's so sad that he decided to end another persons life. I'm interested to know if drugs played a part in his total disregard for others lives.
