Matthew Zapata - Can You Bring Your Gun to Vote?

On November 7th, 2016, CNN released an article touching on the issues and concerns of baring arms at public voting areas. This article was written by Laura Jarrett and was mainly a fact based article with little to no opinions of the author. The article opens with a story of how a Trump supporter showed up to a polling station in Virginia with a handgun in his waistband. This incident made others feel very uncomfortable especially with the tension of the election at hand. Personally with the intensity of the election going on today, I don't feel that it is safe to carry a fire arm at a polling station also based on the fact that strict gun control laws are not in place. Obviously the time period of this article can change or effect the view point of the readers because of the battle on gun control laws and the big presidential election going on.

  1. I thought it would be common sense not to take a weapon to a polling place. Voter intimidation is being used widely but bringing a gun can cause much distress. Everyone needs to vote, and if someone can't vote because they were scared, then the armed person should be held accountable.
