Tsarnaev Put to Death- by Rachel Devine (6th)

College student, Jahar Tsarnaev, who along with his brother set off the bomb at the 2013 Boston Marathon, has been on trial for weeks now. The court finally came to the decision that he should be given the death penalty as opposed to a life sentence in prison. The defense attorney, Judy Clarke, tried to portray Tsarnaev as a confused college student who was extrememly influenced by his "obsessed older brother," but after everything was said and done, it wasn't enough. Although most people feel strongly about the punishment that Tsarnaev will be receiving, it still doesn't take away the heartache that so many people across the nation feel. Tsarnaev may be gone, but the families and friends of those affected in the bombing will have their sadness continue forever.

This article was written by Ann O'neill, who was actually in the courtroom everyday; it was interesting to hear from someone who actually witnessed everything. The way Tsarnaev didn't show any remorse, the emotional families, everything: it all supports why the court made the decision that they did. The Boston Marathon bombing was devastating and hopefully the punishment given to Jahar will deter others from conducting future terrorist attacks.
