Summary:
The article opens with a doctor telling the story of a young boy who is terribly sick. Why is this young boy gasping for breath so badly that he can barely tell the doctor what's wrong? Entirely because of parents. They smoke. His parents had started when they were teens and now after many years they can't stop. Even when the health of their only child is at risk. So, the author proposes we should raise the smoking age to 21, so that less people have access to them, less people will get addicted, and less people will die.
Analysis:
In America smoking has always been seen as what the "cool kids" do. In our hollywood films, the cool popular kids would smoke. In the 1920s smoking was sexy and everyone did it, but now in an age where we have learned a lot about the dangers of smoking many americans somehow still think it's cool.
