On Saturday, a severe storm capsized sailboats in Mobile Bay, Alabama. Two bodies have been recovered; however, there are still five missing. The following Sunday a number of boats and two planes searched the bay in an attempt to find the other five people. U.S. Coast Guard Capt. Duke Walker said that they searched more than 2,500 miles. He also said that "more than 100 sailboats took part in the Dauphin Island Race on Saturday afternoon and 40 people were rescued from the water."
Janet DiGiacomo, Carma Hassan and Ralph Ellis wrote this article for CNN on April 27th. Before reading this article, I had not heard about the incident. This article was written to inform people of the tragedy that occurred and to also update those who were following the event. It's horrible that the storm took so many lives and I hope that the families affected by this are able to recover. I also find it odd that a race was held the same day as a severe storm hit. The storm must have been rather sudden since a warning was not given.

That's so sad! Throughout history, many natural disasters have caused death. Hopefully we can find a way to take more precaution to prevent things like this from happening.
ReplyDeleteI think accidents like this will always happen no matter how many precautions we take. People will be curious, audacious, naive, and stupid. Because of those tendencies, fatal accidents will occur.
