Pro-Gay Marriage Signals Seen In U.S. Supreme Court Action- Joelle Gnikpingo, 2nd period
The U.S. Supreme Court, today, allowed gay marriage in Alabama. It is the strongest signal to date that the justices will, in June, rule that strictly heterosexual marriage will be prohibited. Gay marriage is now legal in 37 of the 50 states.
Only two of the nine justices show dissent for the legalizing of gay marriage. A definite nationwide ruling should be reached by the end of April and then announced in June.
Analysis:
The states, under the Constitution, are allowed to govern the way they want, including matters like gay marriage. But under the Declaration, it states that "all men are created equal" so there should be equal rights for everyone, including gays being allowed to get married.
