Police in Las Vegas have been urgently searching the suspect whom they believe is responsible for a road rage attack. He shot Tammy Meyers right outside of her home, as she was attempting to help her daughter practice driving. Meyers was driving with her daughter back to their house, when she almost ran into another car. The driver of the other car and Meyers quickly argued before Meyers and her daughter drove home. However, the car of the suspect suddenly appeared outside of Meyers's house, and shots were fired. Robert Meyers, Tammy's son, came out when he heard the shots and fired back with a small handgun, but the car had fled. Tammy Meyers was taken off of life support at University Medical Center this past Saturday. The suspect is thought to be a tall man with blond hair that weighs 180 pounds.
There is no reason that this small argument should have escalated so quickly. Having a confrontation with someone who has such aggressive road rage is a frightening situation to be in because the pedestrian or other driver can't control how belligerent an individual may become. Hostile driving has been an issue on the nations roadways for a long time now. About 66% of fatal traffic incidents are due to road rage, and an estimated 37% of these accidents are said to have involved a firearm. It seems as though the issue of road rage will never fully disappear; however, getting home safely is far more important than trying to win an argument with someone who commonly experiences such violent behavior. One can only hope that this suspect will be captured and rightfully punished.
