3 Year Old Shoots Father & Pregnant Mother; Margaret Canady 2nd Period

Over the weekend in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a three year old shot his father and pregnant mother in a hotel room. The boy removed the gun from his mother's purse and shot his father in the lower backside. The bullet exited and hit the mother's right shoulder.
Both parents were treated in the hospital; the mother is in stable condition, and the father was treated and released. The boy and his two year old sister, who was also in the hotel room during the incident, were not injured, and are currently under the care of the Children's Youth and Family Department.
The case is being reviewed by the Albuquerque District Attorney's Office, who will determine if the parents will be charged with criminal negligence.

This is so ludicrous it's almost comical. If a family is going to carry a gun, which can be argued due to our 2nd Amendment (the right to bear arms for self-protection), how can the parents be so careless as to leave it in a place easily susceptible by their children?? Thank god no one was killed in the incident. Something like this is every parent's worst nightmare! This is a case in favor of gun restriction, because in pursuit of self-protection, the parents were harmed by their own carelessness and negligence.

  1. You're absolutely right; it's ridiculous to see how negligent people are with their weapons (especially since they have small children!). This poses many questions about whether or not the 2nd amendment truly pertains to society as it exists today or if it were a policy that was only needed in the past.

  2. This is almost comical, yet very disheartening. People say that we shouldn't get rid of guns, but we should change the minds of people. I think that this case proves that saying wrong. The child obviously did not know what he was doing, and that if there wasn't a gun around he wouldn't have done this sort of tragic thing.
