Summary:
The parents of a six year old girl have gone public with their decision to change their daughter’s gender. They thought it was just a phase but ever since Ryland was little, he would scream “I’m a boy!” The little boy announced that this is the happiest he’s ever been. Some believe that a 6 year old is too young to know if they are a transgender, but the family knows they have done the right thing for their child, and believe that doing this at a young age is better than doing it later in life.
Analysis:
I also find it hard to believe that a six year old can know that they are a transgender, but you never know. Apparently this child knows and they all think this is the right choice. I do agree that it is probably better to make this change at a young age that way the child won't have to go through hard times as a teenager especially.

I agree with you that it probably would be best to wait just a few more years to decide to change the child's gender. Many people who identify with another gender also take pride in being themselves and not changing themselves medically.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I do agree that they should have waited a couple more years to do this, I find it great that, unlike a lot of other parents, the parents are ever accepting of it.
