It is shocking to know that the veterans that have fought and served for our country cannot obtain timely and appropriate health care. Our veterans deserve more attention paid to their health care since they risked their lives to serve. The VA system was originally set up to cater to our servicemen and it should fulfill the original promise for which it was established for. The attention that is being put on the current VA health care system is important to finally improve the system to better serve our veterans.

Embattled Chief Resigns - Beatriz Ruiz 4th Period
An overhaul of administration occurred this week as the Veteran Administration's Secretary for Veteran Affairs, Eric Shinseki, resigns after the major problem of providing timely health care to our country's veterans comes to light. Many veterans in Phoenix, Arizona have been unable to obtain appointments to see a physician and have failed to be put on the official waiting list by the VA health care system. This has caused the veterans to stay in a state of limbo as they progressively get worse medically without the hope of seeing a doctor in the near future. Now, it is known that this problem is present at many VA hospitals, not just in Phoenix. President Obama has appointed a temporary secretary to oversee the Veteran Affairs while the Justice Department determines if a criminal act has occurred that has led to the many problems and hoops that veterans have been met with when trying to see a doctor.
