6 missing Mount Rainier climbers believed to have fallen (Haley Hill, 4th)

6 missing Mount Rainier climbers believed to have fallen

Susanna Capelouto and Janet DiGiacomo for CNN

6 people attempted to climb Mount Rainier in Washington, but the last contact they had with people on the ground was wednesday. They were supposed to descend Friday, but no one has heard from them since. They are believed dead because inclement weather and high winds may have blown them off the face of the mountain which has a 50% incline. Searches continue to find the hikers, but rescuers say the chances of survival-even finding the bodies- are slim to none because it is almost impossible for ground searches to take place.

  1. This is so sad. I can't imagine what it must be like for the families.

People should stop climbing seriously high mountain. There's no certainty that the climbers will survive. They have no absolute purpose...it's basically suicide. People are well aware of the dangers of climbing mountains, but do it anyway. And this garners national media coverage...WHY?
