Elena Balchata, 30, a very successful tennis player lost her battle with liver cancer and passed away. The tennis world is said to be in mourning over the young woman's tragic battle. Balchata, born in the Ukraine, has competed and won many national and world titles but ultimately had to retire in November 2013.

This is very sad. Anything regarding a life being taken by cancer is just sad. I am not necessarily the biggest sports fan, but I do find it terribly tragic that such a promising young woman could be taken by liver cancer, and be taken out of the sport she loved.
I completely agree with you on this. My thoughts go out to her family in this trying time. It is very sad that she lost this battle at so young an age.
