In England, there is a man who has covered his body 90% in tattoos. He has spend over 40,000 dollars for ink to cover his body and has the record of most tattoos. Not too long ago, around 2009, the once known Matthew Whelan decided to legally change his name to King of Ink Land King Body Art The Extreme Ink-Ite. However, for short he goes by Body Art.
Body Art ran into some issue with the Great Britain passport agency. The did not accept his name to be put on his passport, even though it is on his drivers license. His request to get a passport was actually denied. From this, Body Art filed an appeal and gained support of a member of parliament, John Hemming.
With attending an art school, I find freedom of expression highly valuable. If he legally changed his name to King of Ink Land King Body Art The Extreme Ink-Ite, then it should be accepted throughout society.
I agree, people should be able to express themselves the way they want.
ReplyDeleteFor real, he went to the trouble of legally changing his name and it should be respected. Also tattoos are awesome so why are people being mean?? Tattoos!
ReplyDeleteI agree that people should have all freedom to express themselves in their own way, and I have nothing against this man's actions. I do think it's a slight bit extreme to legally change your name though..
ReplyDeleteI thought this article was titled "Taco Man" but it is still very interesting to see how far someone would go for something they enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI really think this guy is pretty strange, but in following with legal rights and natural rights, this man should not have a problem getting a passport. I heard on the news that he was getting a passport to pursue a career in another country, and I do think it's sad that he's denied the right to do so, particularly because he's a hard working citizen.
