Summary: Last week, Supreme Court Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Elena Kagan attended an annual lecture given in Ginsburg's honor at the New York City Bar Association. In an interview given, Kagan talked about Ginsburg's past and how the troubles she faced years ago were not the same ones that Kagan faces today. The two women also discussed their views on certain smaller issues, like allowing cameras in the Supreme Court. Bader Ginsburg said she opposes them because many decisions are based on writing and discussion as opposed to oral testimony, but Kagan favors the because she thinks it would be nice for the public to see what goes on in the Court.
Analysis: I liked this article because it showed a great contrast between the two Justices but also opened readers into the views that each of them have. It's nice to see someone like Justice Kagan almost using Justice Ginsburg as a mentor since they both followed parts of the same path; however, Justice Kagan had it a lot easier than Justice Ginsburg since there weren't as many obstacles for women in the legal world by the time Kagan started working.
