Kennedy Waterman - Jimmy Kimmel Gets to the Heart of the Matter

In his monologue Monday night, Jimmy Kimmel (host of Jimmy Kimmel Live) told an emotional story of his newborn son. He was born with a heart defect, which he points out is a pre-existing medical condition, and almost died. His story then turned to the healthcare issue. Kimmel is known for staying away from politics, but Monday night he described his thoughts that people should be able to save their dying babies (and loved ones) no matter how much money they make. His speech has resonated with many because it was so raw and honest.

Watching the video made me tear up because it's always hard to watch someone go through that. I think he did a good job of not simply bashing Donald Trump, but rather telling his experience and offering his view on why the things currently going on are wrong. Before reading this article, I had seen the video on Youtube. It was written to update people on the debate over American healthcare and offer another perspective. This can relate to the Declaration of Independence. The colonists were upset with how King George was running things, so they wrote down all of their grievances to him. Jimmy Kimmel is upset with how healthcare is being handled, so he told his grievances on a late night talk show.
