Bears Ear is a national monument in Utah showcasing beautiful canyons and valleys and protecting land with great significance to Native American tribes in the area. The Obama administration worked closely with these Native American tribes to ensure protection of this natural wonder. Recently however the Trump administration has discussed reducing the size of or obliterating this monument for the extraction of natural resources.
The decision to open this land for extraction would be bad for the environment and Native American relations. Conservation has been an important part of keeping the country beautiful since the time of Progressive era president Teddy Roosevelt. Its necessary that we don't sacrifice the environment for capitalist gain.

I really like your synthesis, and I agree that this would be a bad decision.
