Katie Haidet: Amazon opens a grocery store with no checkout line

Summary: This Monday, Amazon come out with a new video of a new physical store that sells a mix of "grocery essentials" and ready-made meals. But the key selling point is what it doesn't have: checkout lines. The first store is located in Seattle, where their headquarters are. The video shows how customers check in at the entrance of the store with a new app called Amazon Go, then grab whatever items are needed. Amazon claims it can track the items automatically through a combination of computer vision and deep learning technologies. When you're done shopping, you just walk out.

Analysis: This article was published by CNN on December 5, 2016. Amazon Go does not seem like the best idea to me. Although, I do believe that this will start something new in our century and a new way to grocery shop. It doesn't not seem very secure in the way that shop-lifters will jump onto the idea. This reminds me of the Industrial Revolution where many new inventions were made, some that made a huge impact on live today and some inventions that did not. I would enjoy seeing where this will bring us within the next few years.
