All over the country reports of racist graffiti and hate crimes, especially in schools have been popping up after the election. I think that it is absolutely heinous that a candidate who based his campaign on hate and fear was elected to be the president of the United States, (even if not by popular vote) and it is even more terrible that this action by the american people have instilled in young people the idea that it is ok to win by fear and hate. Those kids who are chanting hateful things and people who are painting hateful things on walls are not what I had envisioned for the future of this country, and I hope it's not who we become as a country.
The hatred for immigrants and minorities that is so clearly shown by these acts is like the McCarthyism of the 1950s, and the way that he ruled by fear of the communists, which lead to fear and hate dictating lives. That was not a good thing for America, and not a healthy way to live. I am genuinely scared for all LGBT, women, followers of marginalized religions, and People of Color in the United States right now, because it is a particularly difficult time for them because this election proved that many of the voters don't value them enough, in a way that they could overlook or even embrace Donald Trump's bigotry to vote for him. Most of all, I hope that the hate prevalent in this country right now is just temporary, and we can grow to be more accepting of all people, despite the hatefulness of the person 'we' have elected to be our leader.

People don't realize that racist graffiti and hate crimes won't fix the results. Instead we should all stick together and use our voices to speak calmly about our issues.
