Kyla Thomas (1st Period) Tens of thousands plan women's march on Washington
Summary: In the light of the recent election, women are planning to march, not protest, for women's issues, such as sexual assault and workplace discrimination. This march is not necessarily a Trump bashing event, despite the terrible things that he's said about women; however, this election was very hard on women across the country. History would've been made by having a female president in office and America doesn't get the chance to experience that, yet. This march is more about empowerment and a raise of awareness.
Analysis: This march was put in play the day after the election and thousands of women across America have shown their support of this peaceful march. It is important that women exercise their rights and make their voice heard. Donald Trump has made very offensive remarks towards women and I believe that this is the cause of these marches. This march, in particular, is a peaceful one, unlike the many protests that are currently going on across the country. In relation to United States History, women were given the right to vote according to the 19th Amendment, which was passed on August 18, 1920. This took place nearly a century ago and women are still struggling to be seen as a equal to men. Hopefully one day America would be under the leadership of a woman.

I' glad that people are standing up for the rights of women that somehow are still an issue. It's good to see unity and peace in light of the hard times.

I think this will be a great event. I don't know why it took so long for women to receive the same rights as men and different races to get the same right too. I think this is a positive event coming from the election that is nonviolent but empowering!
