Hijab-wearing Muslim Is Now a Face of Covergirl by Caitlin King

Nura Afia grew up feeling like her hijab held her back, but not anymore! This Muslim fashionista has just become one of the many gorgeous faces of CoverGirl in their latest campaign, "So Lashy". This campaign is revolutionary because it shows the company's first male and hijab-wearing ambassadors. This is indeed a milestone for the Muslim community and an inspiration to young girls all over. Afia is very happy about this accomplishment and says, "It shows that we're just average Americans. We're just girls that love to play with makeup and do everyday stuff."

This article is very important, especially since Muslims have been under scrutiny due to ISIS, the Pulse Night Club shooting, and not to forget the 2016 election with Donald Trump constantly rallying his supporters against muslims among other minorities. At last, a news headline representing the positive events pertaining to Muslims! This article shows they aren't some strange cult who force women into submission and hide themselves from the media, they're a kind and beautiful faith with much to offer. This was written on November 4th by CNN reporter Harmeet Kaur.

  1. This is really cool! I think this is such a good development for our country and helps us learn to accept all races and all definitions of beauty.

  2. This is so important in overcoming standards set for women today and redefining standards of beauty that don't fit everyone, and making girls of all ages, race, and size feel accepted.

  3. This seems to be a positive thing for the country, with this young lady advertising Covergirl it will show the rest of the country that she is an average American girl and I believe this could open the eyes of those that see the Muslim Americans as outsiders. I am eager to see the advertisements.
