Grace Schwall- Five possible hacks to worry about before Election Day

In recent years s the elections of countries such as the Ukraine have been compromised by hackers that sway the final outcome. With our election becoming more digitalized there's a greater chance that the ballots may be tampered with. One concern that our government has is that Russian hackers will attempt to sway the election in Trump's favor( the Russian government has denied this). Another concern is that since voter databases are digital and not guarded with much security it would be quite possible for a citizen to delay the results of the election. It would also be possible for someone to give a false election conclusion to a news source which would cause nationwide confusion. Another issue is the possibility of an Internet crash that would slow the release of results. The last main concern is the possibility of hackers messing with the actual poll machines which is unlikely.

This article was written by David E Sanger from the New York Times in order to warn Americans of hacks that coul possibly change election results. Now that the government is using internet and technology for the election it is more susceptible to a hack. This year more than ever citizens know more about digitalized  data and are more likely to be able to change it. The nation's reliance on the internet to receive news could also prove to be an issue if the Internet is slowed/ crashed or if the reports from news sources are false. A compromise of the results would cause confusion and conflict. This possibility is similar to the Election of 1824 when the corrupt bargain. John Quincy Adams and Henry Clay worked together to ensure Adams' victory though Jackson was the most popular among the people.
