Devyn Lemack- Did a Gorilla really get 11,000 Votes??

As you scrolled through your social media on Tuesday night, you may have noticed people said they had voted for a dead gorilla, Harambe. Stories of this gorilla taking thousands of votes during the presidential election have been all over social media since election day. Harambe was the 450 pound gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo shot by zoo personnel due to a 3-year old boy getting into its exhibit back in May. Stories that you may have heard that Harambe got anywhere from 11,000 to 15,000 votes are 100% FALSE!! Yes, there were definitely pranksters out there about people who wrote his name on their ballot, but there would be no way we would have know by Tuesday night how many people had done that because write-in ballots are often treated as absentee ballots and counted after ALL of the others, and in most states you can't just walk in with a write in ballot.

This article was written by Doug Criss on November 10th, 2016. This may be a blog on the funnier side, but I think we were all wondering whether or not the rumor about Harambe getting 11,000 votes was true. Prior to reading this article, I had seen stuff about this topic on twitter and for me personally, I had a feeling it wasn't true. I think this was written to let people know that this whole deal was a lie and it wouldn't be possible anyway, you have to be 35 to vote!!;) I think this is important because it shows that you shouldn't always believe everything you see on the internet. I feel like this really can't relate to anything in history, nobody has ever vote for anything but a human for president!!

  1. Although that wasnt all the way true, I was very frustrated to find out that in many states, third party votes could have won Hillary the election. The gap was so small that if those people had cast their vote for her instead of for a third party candidate that was not going to win, she could have won the electoral votes in states such as Florida, where the gap between Trump and Hillary was less than the amount of third party votes.

  2. Jada Brown- In my opinion, those people who spent their time voting for a gorilla, are the reasons Hilary isn't our President now. #Thanksfortakingtheelectionsoseriously

  4. I feel that this is very strange and unprofessional of young voters that participated in the recent 2016 presidential election. I agree with Jada in that fact that we need to take the election as a serious event, and not choose something (that is not human) as our potential president, as a joke or not!
