Summary At an elementary school in Baltimore students meditate instead of serving detention. One of the teacher says
"The students having an opportunity to meditate gives them the chance to look inside themselves changing the negative energy into something extremely positive."
They realized that the new suspensions weren't good because sending the kids back to some of the neighborhoods, probably wouldn't make things better but worse because of that certain type of environment. Ever since the "Mindful Moment Room," was discovered three years ago, the school reports fewer behavioral problems.
Analysis: While reading further into the article the principal talks about the background some of the kids come from and how punishing them wouldn't help because they could be going through some tough things at home. Why suspend a child from school,that is having behavioral issues at home when the reason is issues at home? Honestly, what help would you be doing for the child if you generally think about it ? You would be hurting the child even more ,so I completely agree with this article because not only is this keeping kids from the bad influences but stabilizes the child's mind rather than keeping the child from learning. This should be replaced in every school around the country, lets see how many lives that will be changed!!
