During the commercials inbetween the SuperBowl game last night, T-Mobile and Sprint were fighting over carriers on Twitter. T-Mobile started the fight by stating that Sprint's commercial advertisement was "half-assed" meaning it wasn't put together professionally. Yet, Sprint caught the audience's attention when they said that if they had customers that switched from AT&T to Sprint, they would cut their bills in half. The CEO's were still at it after the SuperBowl had ended.
This fight between media and technology shows just how competitive it has become. In 1885, The American Telephone and Telegraph Company was founded after the first telephone was invented and this was the only company to exist for many years. In the Gilded Age, this telephone company dominated the nation. In the later years, new companies were erupting and trying to overpower AT&T. Currently, cell phone companies are still trying to overpower one another, but AT&T is still the largest company.

I didn't even watch the super bowl but I know that a advertising spot is extremely expensive because there are so many viewers. These telephone companies are really competitive.
ReplyDeleteThis is proof today that these huge business are still as competitive as they were in the Guided Age......not much has changed!
ReplyDeleteThese companies both control large portions of the market. I think it would be weird if they weren't fighting and trying to get customers from each other.
