A Royal Caribbean cruise was cut short by a quick spread of norovirus throughout more than 200 passengers. The virus spread quickly to passengers and workers and the ship was forced to port when a passenger required medical attention on land. This is now leading to better health screenings of passengers before they are aloud to stay on the ship. More hand-washing stations are being provided as well.
This relates to so many times in which disease was spread throughout history. This is definitely on a smaller scale than many disease outbreaks, however this is even currently happening with measles.

This is similar to what we see in industrial America during the Gilded Age. During that time tenement housing increased with high population density, making the spread of disease faster.
