Tyson Gay Suspended for 1 Year Following Failed Drug Test by Joi Ware

Summary: US Olympian Tyson Gay was suspended for positive results on a banned drug. This was in June 2013 when his suspension began. Tyson has been extremely cooperative, withdrawing from competition when he was told and taking full responsibility for his actions. He had another failed drug test in May of 2013 so this isn't the first time he had popped up. He basically said he put his trust in someone and they let him down.

Analysis: I've never heard of this story, so I'm assuming it's not very popular because I haven't heard of any talk about it. If this were any other Olympic athlete the repercussions would have been ten times worse and he definitely got the easy way out with a one year suspension, I just hope he truly does learn his lesson. I know the desire to win is high but cheating with drugs to get does not give you the same satisfaction as if you did it by yourself.

  1. It's kinda weird that this isn't a huge story considering he's an Olympic athlete that has won multiple medals. Either way, I hope he's learned his lesson and comes back to the sport clean.
