On Monday morning, a 56 year old man was hit by an Acela Express Amtrak train. He was walking on the tracks when the train came by and knocked him into the Mystic river in Connecticut.
When I read this I was shocked. I thought there might be some protection against the rails, at least fences. I think that these railways should work toward more safety toward pedestrians, no matter where they tend to be.

People who read about this will be more vigilant about their safety and the safety of their children when in the proximity of trains. This is certainly an aspect of the media that is beneficial to the public. Something bad that happen can be made good by creating more awareness and safety for the public.
