Summary: Friday, a 26-year-old woman at Oakland
International Airport was arrested after the TSA allegedly discovered marijuana
in her three checked bags, according to the TSA. The Mississippi resident was
attempting to fly on a plane from Oakland to Jackson, Mississippi, with stops
in Phoenix and Dallas.
"TSA screens every bag placed on an airplane, whether taken as
carry-on or checked with an airline," said TSA spokesman Ross Feinstein,
via e-mail.
"As is
common practice, TSA notified the Alameda County Sheriff's Office of the
discovery, who responded and took possession of the marijuana," said
Feinstein. The decision was made by the local authorities to arrest the woman
on criminal charges. She was caught with
81 pounds of pot, which is a substantial amount.
Analysis:
Sometimes I just have to wonder what goes in people’s minds. How do you
possibly expect to fly from California to Mississippi with 81 pounds of
marijuana, and not get caught? Was she going to sell the drugs, or was it all
for her personal use? Perhaps she was smoking some when she thought she could
take it on a plane undetected, because this just doesn’t make sense to me.

I don't think this woman thought through her plan very clearly; obviously you're going to get caught if you bring that large of an amount of drugs onto a plane!
