uber driver convicted of kidnapping
According to CNN, in Pittsburgh an Uber driver has been arrested on charges of kidnapping 2 women by locking them into a car. According to the 2 women, when they entered the uber, the driver kept commenting on their looks, and didn't follow the GPS map to go to their requested location. The car suddenly came to a stop and the driver said, "You're not going anywhere", and locked the doors. The 2 women were eventually able to escape through the back doors. The police were then able to identify him through the Uber app and arrest him. I think that this behavior is unacceptable; especially with the recent Uber charges. I think Uber should require a complete background check and possibly an in person interview (which they do not require) from now on. People order Ubers to be safe, and safety should be ensured. Along with the kidnapping, I think that it is terrible that the driver commented on their physical appearances. I've had personal experience with Ubers objectifying me, and it has made me very uncomfortable. In the future, I think I am going to report them.

It is very scary to be put in a situation, i honestly don't know what i would do if it were me. I definitely agree that Uber should be a safe place.
ReplyDeleteIt’s scary because an Uber people are human trafficking Uber users
ReplyDeleteI am glad that they could escape, but this should have never happened in the first place. I hope we come up with other ways to make the passengers safe when using an Uber.
ReplyDeleteIt’s scary to see that this could happen to anyone, I hope that Uber will become safer to use ~ Stephannie Hernandez
