Shooting at University of North Carolina at Charlotte

On May 1st, a student who hadn't been to school in two weeks, opened fire on his classmates at UNCC. Two were killed and four more were injured. An alert flashed across computer and phone screens all over campus. The instructions said, "Run, hide, fight. Secure yourself immediately. A man name Riley Howell couldn't run or hide, because the gunman was in his classroom. The authorities said he charged at the gunman, who had already fired several rounds. He was able to pin him down until the cops had arrived. He was unfortunately shot in the process and lost his life, but he saved the lives others. The death toll could have been far more worse if wasn't for Mr.Howell. The police identified the gunman as 22 year old Trystan Andrew Terrell. Who was charged with 2 counts of murder and 4 counts of attempted murder. Authorities said the gun used in the shooting was purchased legally.

Seeing this happening just brings me back to last week when we had our gun control protest. If the U.S. had more gun control, something like this probably wouldn't have happened. I think it's sad that this happened on a college campus and I feel like universities and colleges should put more tighter security around the campus, including things like metal detectors at the entrances of buildings and more security patrolling the campus.

  1. This is really sad because it seems too easy to bring a gun anywhere. It's also sad that some people may have knew the shooter so they would not think of it as a bad person in the school. You would think that if someone attends the same school, then there would not be a crime like this from them.
