Shane M. Piche, 26, will get no jail time for guilty-plead against 14 year old girl he raped.
Jefferson County Judge James McClusky ruled 10 year probation on shane, and he will be registered as a level one sex offender, meaning he will not be available in databases that list sex offenders. This sentence was ruled simply because Piche has no prior arrests or rape victims-therefore he will be 'let go', on a 3rd degree rape.
Shane supposedly met the girl through his job as a bus driver, though the offense occurred at home. He provided her with alcohol before committing the act, and has also been charged with unlawfully dealing with a child and endangering a child's life.
Piche will not be allowed with anyone under the age of 17, and has promptly left his job as a bus driver. He will pay a simple 1,375$ fee and then will continue forward.
Lets start with facts: Only 4.6 out of 1,000 rapists actually serve jail time for their offense.
Rape is never justified, in any circumstance e. No matter if he has a good swimming credibility, or if he has no offenses. Rape is Rape.
In this account, is worse as he gave her alcohol, a 14 year old girl mind you, before taking something from her and forcing her to deal with depression and anxitety for the rest of her life. She will never get justice. She will never be able to undue what was done. And he will move forward, with no real charges.
This is why women's suffrage is important. This is why the right to say no, the #metoo movement is so so important. This is why women's suffrage never stopped at the 19th amendment. This is why we are still fighting. So a 14 year old girl doesn't have to be afraid every time she gets on a bus. So a girl doesn't have to go to the restroom alone, or call a friend while she walks to the car, or keep her drink in her hands at all times while she is at a bar.
The price of rape is apparently 1,375$. That's all it takes.
Wow, I heard about and I just couldn't believe it. How could someone like him not serve any jail time? I totally agree with you ,Faith. This has to change.
ReplyDeleteThis is disgusting.
ReplyDeleteEmma Burkey: This makes me absolutely sick. I can't stand something like this just being let go because it was his "first offense". That shouldn't matter, he still committed a crime and should have to pay for it.
ReplyDeleteAll of your statements are so powerful. You are always trying to spread awareness about this issue, and I truly respect you for that. Consequences are necessary. All too often, victims are blamed instead of the rapists. I'm glad that doesn't seem to be happening here, but he barely received a punishment. Thank you for stating the facts. A lot of people don't realize how few rapists are convicted.
