This article is focused on Liz O' Sullivan, and more broadly, technology companies being used to make weapons. One day, at her old company Clarafai (which is a site used to sensor inappropriate things online, and also used by doctors to spot diseases) got involved in a goverment contract worth millions of dollars. The work was secretive, and many of the workers didn't really know what they were doing with the project they were given. They soon found that they were working for the Department of Defense, and were unknowingly creating Algorithmic Warfare, which targets certain places by drone. Many people in the company had moral disagreements with the project, as it was being used to hurt people.
This was an interesting article to read, since I had never heard of a lot of terms mentioned in it. When first reading it, one sentences stood out to me: "Countries like chine are already doing it [using autonomous weapons]". This instantly makes me think of the Russian space race and the nuclear bomb invention and usage. Like the space race, the U.S. is trying to keep up with what other countries are doing so if we happen to go to war, we will be on the same playing field. Also, this type of warfare could potentially be a BIG change in how we battle, specifically because, in theory, it could provide a different tactic involving less human casualty.
