This article is about a bill just passed in Florida that decided felons have limited voting rights, but can potentially regain the right if they pay back all fines, fees, and restitution. Although, some people are angry, saying it is equivalent to the poll tax in how evil it is. But, in order to refine this policy, there would be many confusing changes for waiving fees and somehow making them mean service hours.
This article includes some heavy debate, especially about money prejudice: if you can pay, you can vote. It is just unfair to say that because one felon has more money than the other means that they get to vote and the other doesn't. If you're going to put consequences, make them equal to all. There has been enough oppression throughout our nation's history, and this does not need to be an addition to that. Voting is a right, and should not be decided by money or value.
