GOP Senator James Lankford stated that he wished that President Trump would return to calling North Korean Dictator Kim Jong- Un "rocket-man" versus "honorable." This comes after Trump recently describing the leader as honorable after he agreed to meet with Trump to discuss denuclearization. In Lankford's opinion, it seemed as if Trump was ignoring the decades of dictatorship in North Korea and the public executions of dissenters. The senator did give Trump some graded in his ability to help deescalate the situation by imposing sanctions on North Korea.
I agree with Senator Lankford in that Trump should not be referring to Kim Jong- Un as an honorable man. The dictator has done horrendous things not even imaginable in our society. While calling him rocket man does not help the situation, being passive is no better. My hope is that Trump will continue to meet with the leader however give less praise until actual change occurs. This is similar in time to when President Ford pardoned former President Nixon which angered many Americans who claimed this was a vote against democracy.

I definetly dont think Kim Jong-Un as an honorable man because the things he does iss just not right and I dont think he should be the face of the Korean country but its whatever.
ReplyDeleteWhile I agree that Kim is a tyrant with blood on his hands, I also believe that using overly negative (or positive) monikers will only further complications in global relations in a time where world powers are being controlled by unstable leaders; hopefully there's a middle-ground between insults and "honorable" at least as far as naming is concerned.
