Rachel Bozalis- Why GOP plans on health care will hurt all women

With today's government being controlled by a terrifying number of conservatives, we are beginning to see various liberal strides being dismantled. One of these is the government funding of contraceptives for women, and as the end of this nears many are beginning to worry. Contraceptives are imperative to a woman's sexual and physical health as it allows them to make conscious family planning choices. Previously, women who were insured via Obamacare and other insurance companies were able to obtain contraceptives with no out of pocket cost. The removal of insurance coverage for these items marks an end to a period of progress for women's health.

I am once again disgusted by our government as more and more rights are being taken away from women. While contraceptives will still be available, they will come at a much higher cost and will be less numerous in quantity and variety, meaning that many women will have trouble obtaining them and/or will no longer have access to the method that works the best for them. It is so hard to believe that people can justify removing this from federal funding, as half the population relies on it and has little to no choice over their reproductive capacity. While this article is an opinion piece, it effectively voices the opinions and feelings of the many shocked and repressed women in America today, as they enjoy the bittersweet last days of insurance-covered contraceptives.

  1. I seriously wonder why they think this is a good idea. This could go multiple ways, and they are all pretty bad. In addition, this may increase the number of abortions, which is something that these people don't want either. And because they may make that illegal, more deaths from illegal/dangerous abortions will occur.
