Roxanne Jones, a founding editor of ESPN Magazine, former vice president at ESPN, and 2010 Woman of the Year in Sport and Events, recently shared her take on having a woman as president and the impact that it would make. She tells her story through her son, who was influenced by Obama as the first black president, note that her family is black. She says that this didn't leave those encouragements of "you can do whatever you set your mind to" and "you can be anything you dare to dream" as lies. Standing taller, feeling the pride of having one of their own being looked up to and respected caused a change in the Jones household. After this, the author then ventures on to the impact Hilary would have as president on her daughter and women all over the world. That woman would be able to look at a female role model who was praised for her intelligence and her ambitions for change.
In this piece, we reflect on how a female president could bring a family, community, and, hopefully, a whole nation together. This is the total opposite with Trump's plans, which tears families apart and sets us all apart. A woman as president would take situations like too low of wages and sexual harassment and overall not underestimate women.I found this piece empowering coming from a woman whose family has been impacted by Obama and hope that we can look forward to a step forward to equality with a woman as president.

This is really great. As long as we keep breaking boundaries with people in high positions, we will continue destroying the stigma around each minorities and their stereotypes. If we want equality, this is one of our most important steps.

Hopefully will see Hillary Clinton make history as the first the president women.
DeleteAlthough I believe neither Trump nor Hillary are best fit to run the country, seeing the first women president would have made such a HUGE step in furthering gender equality!
ReplyDeleteI feel as though this election is complete crap, forcing us to choose the lesser of two evils, and I think the idea of the first female president is great, but the only good outcome if Trump wins would be that Hillary wouldn't represent it for us.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really good analysis! I am very upset that this never did happen. It would make a lot of people happy to have the first female president that would respect and honor our rights.
ReplyDeleteI really loves your analysis! I was very shocked that this didn't happen. The United States is way overdue for a female president. I think she would had played a huge role in breaking gender roles.
