Students must take the citizenship tests Madana Kloss 4th
In Arizona, all high school students must take the citizenship tests that immigrants do in order to receive a diploma and graduate from high school. This was suggested to the state House and Senate and was passed in just one day. Students would be required to get 60 of the 100 questions right. Arizona is just the first state to make this a requirement but 18 other states are likely to consider whether or not they want this to be a requirement in their state. I can connect this to US history because the Japanese had to take a "Loyalty Quiz" to prove whether or no they were loyal while these students are given a test to see whether or not they know their citizenship knowledge.
I believe that this is unnecessary for passing and receiving credits for a US history class should already be enough. I feel like this is not a great issue that states should be focusing on. I agree that this is similar to the Japanese "loyalty quiz" however, passing this exam does not focus on a certain minority group and make only them take the test. Being a High School Student, I think that the CAHSEE is enough to be able to graduate for the race to nowhere is already enough stress for students.

As radical as it seems, once you are about to graduate from an American high school, you should be able to pass this test with no problem. There is no saying that if you failed the test that there could not be a retest in order to get your diploma.
