Reasons Why The Hobbit Will Get You Suspended (Elizabeth Muscari 6th)

Subject.A Texas school has made us, once again, very honored to be big-hearted, Southern hospitality giving Texans. Kermit Elementary School suspended a 9 year old boy for making "terroristic threats" when he told a classmate he could make him disappear with a magic ring he saw in the new Hobbit movie. The school claimed that while this was more of an imaginative fib, it had to be taken seriously. I don't know of anything more serious than my life being risked because of a ring from the Hobbit. That movie is too realistic as it is; this child is practically Osama Bin Laden in the making. Forget the values of education, a child who is acting out a movie should have time taken out of his education and forced to sit at home and pull an Elsa from the movie Frozen and hide these satanic rings and Harry Potter-esque powers. But, then again, what have we learned from this impactful Texas school? Acting out movies is wrong. This calls for the control of magical powers. Why don't we revisit some old amendments and put a stop to children like these, misusing magical powers in such a way that causes us, as Americans, to question whether or not our government is REALLY protecting us. This Texas school has been backed by anti-magic advocates such as the Christian evangelists, who made their debut in the hit documentary, "Jesus Camp" and  have already labeled Harry Potter as a film directed by Satan himself. In summation, MAGIC MUST BE STOPPED.

ANALYSIS: In all seriousness, I think that this story can relate to many APUSH  subjects such as the first amendment, freedom of speech and expression, but clearly Kermit Elementary has no concept of this amendment...their history department must not be very stacked with historical scholars and strong law interpreters. Also, this relates to the Red Scare and how the USA thought that specific people were living in the country as communists. It was mostly paranoia, which is the fault line of this news story.

  1. Freedom of speech is very important, and some countries restrict it. It is one of the most important rights that a person must be endowed. I agree, this is mostly paranoia and I hope that they can find another solution.

  2. I don't know if Texas is actually being serious anymore. This does relate to freedom of speech and expression, however this shouldn't even be included in that discussion because THIS IS LITERALLY A CHILD USING HIS IMAGINATION TO HAVE A FUN TIME and not a national security threat as these imbeciles make it out to be.
